Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gabriel Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chico Grande (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Grande comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Maestre - Calles De Medellín kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Chico Grande acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Chico Grande!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Emerson Jorge and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grande lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Walker on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Grande keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Walker shoots and misses
and Grande counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Walker fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Grande avoids it really well and circles away.
Walker misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gabriel Walker. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Grande rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Walker moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Grande lands a nice shot to the body.

Walker looks to score with a jab to the body but Grande is just out of range.

Grande connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Grande lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Grande looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Walker closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Grande did well to prevent Walker getting side control.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Walker moves nicely into side control.

Walker is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Grande is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Grande wants to get back to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Grande can do anything to dispel that myth.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Walker tries to move into range but Grande moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Walker throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Grande.
Walker tries to close the distance and clinch up but Grande swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Walker shoots for a double leg takedown but Grande sprawls well. He's pushed Walker's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Grande lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

and Grande makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Grande stuffs the takedown attempt from Walker. Walker gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gabriel Walker. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Grande fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Nice takedown defense from Grande. No joy for Walker on that attempt.
This has been an exciting period of action!
