Kooch comes to the cage accompanied by Rusko - Tru Powwa. Castle has chosen Holy Wars...The Punishment Due as his entrance music. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Kooch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Castle!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kooch throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Castle was covering up waiting for the punch and Kooch finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Castle is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Kooch drops back, looking for a kneebar! Castle looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Castle looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Castle!

Castle takes a little break here. Kooch wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Kooch tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Castle wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Kooch is trying to control Castle's posture but Castle avoids it.
Kooch is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Castle is looking for a kimura here.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Castle wants to stand up but Kooch is controlling the position.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kooch is looking for a sweep. Castle is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Kooch is working hard here to advance position.
Castle tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Kooch tries to get to full guard but Castle has control of the leg.
Castle looks to land a strike but Kooch avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Castle seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Kooch is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Castle defends well.

Kooch tries to bench press Castle off him but Castle keeps the position.
Kooch is trying to control Castle's posture but Castle avoids it.

Castle decides to stand back up.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kooch takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Castle fails in his attempt to clinch.

Castle lands a left and a right that send Kooch crashing to the mat, dazed. Castle thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Kooch is rocked!


It looks like Mike Kooch has been cut.
Kooch is breathing heavily.

Castle forces Kooch back against the cage and clinches.
Oh Kooch is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Castle breaks the clinch.
Castle is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Kooch flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Kooch is out cold! Castle holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Frank Castle!
