The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kampaaja misses with a few strikes there.
Burundi darts in trying to clinch

and Kampaaja counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Kampaaja wants to pass to mount but Burundi is defending the position.
Ground and pound from Kampaaja.

Burundi looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Kampaaja wants to pass the guard but Burundi is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Burundi trying to hold on to Kampaaja's head to control him but Kampaaja postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kampaaja slips a nice elbow through Burundi's hands, connecting with Burundi's forehead.

Burundi tries to get to full guard but Kampaaja has control of the leg.
Kampaaja trying to control the action but Burundi is working from the bottom.
Kampaaja is taking a breather. Burundi says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Kampaaja is looking for submissions but instead, Burundi has regained full guard.
Kampaaja wants to control from the top but Burundi keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Lampaan Kampaaja.
Burundi stuffs the takedown attempt from Kampaaja. Kampaaja gets slowly back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Burundi drops his hands for a split second and Kampaaja immediately capitalizes on the opportunity by smashing a powerful hook into Burundi face, sending his mouthguard sailing through the air, much to the delight of the crowd. Kampaaja follows up with a right hand that knocks Burundi into next week. He's out cold and this fight is over!
