PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nes Quick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brock Lesnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nes Quick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brock Lesnar!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Russell Pearce and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lesnar has Quick up against the cage in a clinch.
Quick could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Quick is trying to break the clinch but Lesnar is controlling him.

Quick wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Lesnar has him pressed against the cage.

Lesnar has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Quick clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Quick is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Lesnar slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Quick manages to reverse the position and now he's in Lesnar's guard. Nice work there by Quick.
Lesnar has control of Quick's left arm, preventing Quick from doing any damage.
Quick scoring with some ground and pound.
Lesnar keeping moving, preventing Quick from controlling successfully.
Quick with a flurry of punches that miss.

Quick will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Quick wants to control from the top but Lesnar keeps moving.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lesnar can do anything to dispel that myth.

Lesnar looking for a guillotine here but Quick defends easily.
Quick throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Lesnar has Quick pulled in close to control his posture.
Lesnar is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Lesnar escapes and gets back to his feet.

and Quick counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Quick is looking to clinch.
Lesnar shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Quick pinned against the cage. Quick gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Quick leaves Lesnar with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Quick fails with an attempt to clinch.
Quick tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
A looping hook to the body misses from Lesnar. Quick does a little dance to reset his feet.

Quick throws a series of punches but Lesnar avoids them all with ease.
Quick keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Nes Quick has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brock Lesnar.

Lesnar looks gassed!
Quick lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Quick thowing shots but they're missing.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Quick is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Lesnar can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Lesnar manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Lesnar wants to control but Quick is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Quick lands a nice short elbow.

Quick tries to pass to full mount but Lesnar defends it.

Quick scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Quick is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Lesnar is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
The fighters are battling for position here. Lesnar manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Lesnar wants to sweep here but Quick controlling him for the moment.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Lesnar looking for a guillotine here but Quick defends easily.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Quick accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Brock Lesnar will probably get the nod.
That's time! Quick's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Quick swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Quick moves to clinch but Lesnar breaks away
and Lesnar counters with a good, hard body kick but Quick shrugs it off.
Lesnar is trying hard to land a takedown here. Quick sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Lesnar shoots in but no luck this time.
Lesnar dives in and grabs Quick's left leg, looking for a takedown. Quick pushes down on Lesnar's head and hops out.
Nes Quick has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brock Lesnar.
Lesnar just misses with a punch to the body.
Lesnar throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Lesnar shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Quick manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lesnar seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Quick controls Lesnar momentarily but Lesnar frees himself.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Quick wants to stand and escape but Lesnar is having none of it.
Lesnar pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Quick is keeping the position for now.
Quick is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Lesnar dives into side control.

Lesnar decides to stand up, so the ref orders Quick to his feet.

Lesnar forces Quick back against the cage and clinches.

Lesnar breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Lesnar fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Quick avoids it really well and circles away.

Lesnar shoots in looking for a takedown but Quick manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Lesnar's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Quick displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Lesnar.
Quick throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Quick.
Lesnar misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Quick shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Lesnar pinned against the cage. Lesnar gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Lesnar darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Quick tries to kick Lesnar off but Lesnar keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Quick is trying to stand.
Quick wants to control but Lesnar is keeping busy.
Lesnar is controlling the pace.

Quick is in trouble now - Lesnar has advanced to mount!
Quick has given up his back, trying to stand up. Not clever.
Lesnar is punishing Quick with strikes - can he finish him?!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lesnar has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Quick.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Lesnar controlling the positon.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Quick is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brock Lesnar showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Lesnar misses with a wild combination.
Some wild striking there from Quick.
Quick tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Lesnar manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Lesnar jumps guard and drags Quick to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Quick postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Lesnar trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Quick keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Lesnar's head.
Quick has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Quick wants to control from the top but Lesnar keeps moving.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Lesnar is on top in guard.

Lesnar makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Lesnar stands and steps away. Quick gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
No joy there for Quick, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Lesnar avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Sloppy strikes from Quick. Those never looked like landing.
Quick throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Lesnar closes the distance and clinches.

Lesnar's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Lesnar gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Lesnar is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Lesnar escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Quick misses with a few strikes there.

Quick gets tackled into the cage by Lesnar. Lesnar maintains the clinch.

Lesnar pulls guard successfully.
Quick with a flurry of punches that miss.

Lesnar manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Quick keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Quick wants to control but Lesnar is having none of it.
Quick trying desperately to get to his feet.

Lesnar can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Quick is looking to escape.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Lesnar misses with a head shot.

And that's the end of the fight!
Brock Lesnar comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Lesnar has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
