Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Barbara Boxer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Coleman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Coleman is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Got Money. The key to victory for Barbara Boxer has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Barbara Boxer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 16 - 3, fighting out of Tokyo, Mark Coleman!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Wesley Smith and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boxer stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Boxer wants it to stay on the feet.
Coleman shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Boxer as he avoids it easily.
Coleman will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Coleman fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Barbara Boxer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Coleman.
Boxer lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Coleman tries to score a power double leg takedown but Boxer sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Coleman somewhat.

Boxer fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Coleman looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
The fighters circling - Boxer throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Coleman shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Boxer sprawls well. Boxer wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Coleman gets slowly back to his feet.

Boxer is trying to control Coleman's posture but Coleman avoids it.
Boxer is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
What's Boxer going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Coleman scores with a couple of short elbows.
Coleman in side control, throwing shots but Boxer defends.
Coleman looks up at the clock and then as Boxer takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Coleman smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!


It looks like Barbara Boxer has been cut.
Coleman lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Boxer is looking for a sweep.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Coleman is looking to take a break and control but Boxer is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Coleman throws a strike aimed at the side of Boxer's head but Boxer avoids it well.
The ground and pound from Coleman seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Boxer tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Coleman wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boxer has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Mark Coleman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Coleman shoots in and drives through. Boxer sprawls well.

Coleman dives in and grabs Boxer's left leg, looking for a takedown. Boxer pushes down on Coleman's head and hops out.
The crowd cheers as Boxer lands an impressive looking overhand right. Coleman doesn't seem phased though.
Coleman throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Boxer's waist but Boxer gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Coleman off to one side.

Coleman looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Boxer is fending him off so far but Coleman persists. Nope, Boxer circles away and we're back to standing.
Boxer leaves Coleman with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Coleman takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Boxer stuffs the takedown attempt from Coleman. Coleman gets slowly back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Barbara Boxer.
I think Boxer has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
