The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pan looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Smith takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Pan doesn't manage to clinch there - Smith circles away.
Pan throws a head kick that Smith semi-blocks.
Smith shoots in but no luck this time.

Pan fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Smith sprawls well initially but Pan persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith works his way to full guard. Good work.
Pan has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Smith is proving hard to escape from.
