PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Igor Ivanovich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Tar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tar has chosen I Come From A Land Down Under as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Igor Ivanovich!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jack Tar!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Matheus Silva and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ivanovich throws a predictable looking body shot
and Tar counters with a straight right hand.
Tar blocks a leg kick.
Tar fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Ivanovich misses with a body shot.
Ivanovich looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Igor Ivanovich seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice defenses there by Tar.
Ivanovich throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Tar counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Ivanovich just misses with a punch to the body.
Ivanovich leaves Tar with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Tar moves out of range of the leg kick from Ivanovich.
Ivanovich is looking to score with low kicks.
Ivanovich misses with a two punch combination.

Ivanovich lands a nice hook to Tar's body. Tar takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
A looping hook to the body misses from Ivanovich. Tar does a little dance to reset his feet.

Tar feints and as Ivanovich raises his hands in defense, Tar changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Ivanovich avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Tar trying to control but Ivanovich is working from the bottom.
Tar stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ivanovich swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Tar trying to control the position from guard on top but Ivanovich is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Tar pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ivanovich is keeping the position for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jack Tar has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Ivanovich looks to score with a jab to the body but Tar is just out of range.

Tar scores a takedown into full mount!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Tar can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Ivanovich is looking to escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tar misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Ivanovich is trying to escape the mount.

Tar working for a submission but Ivanovich is keeping him at bay.
Tar unloads with some shots from mount but Ivanovich bucks and avoids them well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ivanovich is looking to get to half guard.
Ivanovich is squirming around, avoiding Tar's attempts to control the action.
Ivanovich knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tar on the ground.

Tar is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Ivanovich to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Ivanovich shrugs it off.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Tar thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Tar dominated that round.
That's time! Ivanovich's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Ivanovich punishes Tar's body with a nice straight punch.
Jack Tar is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Tar shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ivanovich defends it nicely.
Ivanovich falls off balance throwing a combination
and Tar counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
A jab from Ivanovich does it's job there.
Tar fails with a takedown attempt.

Igor Ivanovich has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Tar.
Tar tries for a takedown but Ivanovich sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Ivanovich is looking to wear down Tar with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Tar walks forward, straight into a front kick from Ivanovich.

Ivanovich digs a good body shot into Tar's ribs.
Tar is breathing heavily.
Ivanovich turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Ivanovich throws a nice outside leg kick.
Ivanovich cracks the inside of Tar's front leg.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ivanovich punishes Tar's body with a nice straight punch.
Ivanovich misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Ivanovich misses with a body kick.
Ivanovich's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Ivanovich duly obliges.
Tar takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Ivanovich dips to his left and cracks Tar with an uppercut!

Ivanovich thows a body kick. Tar tries to catch it but that hurt him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tar has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Ivanovich.
Igor Ivanovich is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Ivanovich fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Tar has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Ivanovich turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Jab, jab by Ivanovich - just one landing.
Tar is still on wobbly legs! Can Ivanovich finish him?
Ivanovich lands a nice looking body kick.
Ivanovich throws a nice outside leg kick.
Ivanovich circles away before darting back in with a big straight right hand. It connects beautifully and sends Tar tumbling to the canvas! He's out cold! Ivanovich wins by KO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Igor Ivanovich!
Igor Ivanovich retains his heavyweight title!
