PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Buer Eremiel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mason Terell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mason Terell told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Eremiel with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Terell throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Terell swinging wildly here.
Terell jabs at Eremiel's body.
No luck for Terell with that takedown attempt.
Terell throws a body punch but Eremiel moves out of range.
Terell misses with a jab, cross combination.
Terell throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Eremiel.
Terell swings for the body but Eremiel moves out of range.
Eremiel getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
A head kick misses from Eremiel.
Eremiel waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Terell.
Eremiel doesn't manage to clinch there - Terell circles away.
Terell throws a looping overhand right but Eremiel ducks down to avoid it.

Eremiel gets caught napping as Terell dives in and scores a takedown. Eremiel manages to retain guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Terell throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Eremiel works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Eremiel avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Terell has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Terell stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Eremiel swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Terell looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Eremiel takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Terell throws a low kick but Eremiel moves out of range easily.

Eremiel moves to clinch but Terell breaks away
and Terell counters with a right hand to the body.
Terell gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Terell fails with the takedown.
Eremiel uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Terell.
Terell tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Eremiel was well out of range. Poor timing from Terell.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Terell lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Eremiel looks to land a body kick but Terell moved away.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Eremiel drops his hands momentarily and Terell takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Terell throws a body punch but Eremiel moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Terell throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Eremiel misses with a head kick.
Terell shoots in and drives through. Eremiel sprawls well.
Eremiel throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Eremiel is looking to clinch.
Eremiel slips a straight right by Terell.
Terell will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Eremiel tries to clinch but Terell moves out of range.
Terell avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Terell swats away the attempt to clinch by Eremiel.
Mason Terell seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Terell looks to land a right hand but Eremiel moved out of range.

Eremiel gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Terell.
Eremiel pushes off an throws an elbow but Terell leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Eremiel misses with an elbow over the top.
Eremiel prevents a takedown attempt there.
Buer Eremiel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mason Terell.
Terell lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Eremiel or not.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Terell has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Eremiel is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Eremiel lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.

Eremiel is fighting off a takedown attempt but Terell is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Eremiel to the mat. Eremiel regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Terell trying to control the position from guard on top but Eremiel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Terell slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Terell tries to keep at a distance but Eremiel has taken the fight into the clinch.
Eremiel has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Terell is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Terell blocks an elbow strike from Eremiel.

Terell works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Eremiel is trying to control the position but Terell postures up.
Eremiel utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Terell advances to half guard.

Terell is looking for a kimura here.
Eremiel tries to kick Terell off but Terell keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Terell throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Terell lands a heavy elbow.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Terell is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Eremiel is forced to tap! Great finish!
