The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wesley lands with a kick to the temple. Lyons shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Wesley misses with a jab, cross combination.
Wesley throws a nice looking combination but Lyons bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Lyons avoids the body shot from Wesley.
Wesley misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Wesley.

Wesley shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Wesley was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Lyons is squirming around, avoiding Wesley's attempts to control the action.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wesley tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Wesley feints and as Lyons raises his hands in defense, Wesley changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Wesley throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Lyons fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Lyons throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Wesley.

Lyons gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Wesley to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Wesley shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Lyons eats them both and turns towards Wesley to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Wesley feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Lyons's calf.
Wesley throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Lyons regains half guard there - taking advantage of Wesley's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Christopher Lyons.

Wesley thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Lyons if he has to take too many more of those.

Wesley closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Lyons to the mat! Lyons manages to get full guard.
Wesley must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Ryan Wesley is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Lyons has his foot on Wesley's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Wesley works his way back into a safe position though.
