The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nikki slaps away a takedown attempt from Mameledinov, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Mameledinov doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Nikki counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Mameledinov!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Nikki working for a guillotine from mount but Mameledinov is in no mood to give up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nikki is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Mameledinov to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Mameledinov shrugs it off.
Mameledinov throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
Mameledinov is in all sorts of trouble here.
Mameledinov wants to control but Nikki is having none of it.
Mameledinov really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Nikki goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Mameledinov turns into him and now he's in Nikki's guard.
Mameledinov lands a couple of elbows.

Nikki looking for a guillotine here but Mameledinov defends easily.
Mameledinov stands up over Nikki, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Mameledinov chips away with some ground and pound.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mameledinov is looking to work some ground and pound but Nikki has wrist control.

Nikki looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Mameledinov missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Mameledinov stands up over Nikki, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Nikki is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mameledinov defends well.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Nikki has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mameledinov can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Mameledinov lands a couple of elbows.
Mameledinov gets to his feet and stands over Nikki, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Nikki felt that one! Mameledinov unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Nikki from any more punishment!
