PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Daiki Kobayashi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronnie Morgan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Morgan has chosen Black Snake Moan as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Gregory Folan and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morgan throws a head kick but Kobayashi moves out of range.

and Kobayashi counters with a nice double leg into side control. Morgan won't be happy with that.

Kobayashi is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Morgan knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Kobayashi drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Morgan manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Kobayashi has Morgan in his guard.

Morgan is pushing down on Kobayashi's leg trying to pass to half guard. Kobayashi is fighting to maintain full guard but Morgan has managed to sneak the leg through.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Kobayashi is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Morgan pulls his head out easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Morgan tries to pass to full mount but Kobayashi defends it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, if Morgan is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Morgan moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Kobayashi.

Kobayashi is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Morgan is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Kobayashi will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kobayashi tries to improve position but can't.

Morgan stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Morgan throws a head kick but Kobayashi moves out of range.
Kobayashi has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Morgan.
Morgan misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Morgan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kobayashi defending well as Morgan loads up on a big left hand.

Morgan buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ronnie Morgan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Kobayashi's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Morgan and Kobayashi are patiently standing in front of each other looking for an opening. Morgan throws a head kick. It's landed, knocking Kobayashi into next week! Ooooh that was huge! Morgan knows it - he's on the cage flexing is biceps. That's a bit weird considering he won by kick but whatever.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:12 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Ronnie Morgan!
