Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Josh Koscheck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Douglas Catdad (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Josh Koscheck!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Douglas Catdad!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Eliza Hachem and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Koscheck tries to sprawl but Catdad drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Catdad stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Koscheck to get to his feet.
Koscheck throws a one two combo.
Catdad lands a nice leg kick that just misses Koscheck's sensitive parts.
Koscheck will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Josh Koscheck seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Catdad stuffs the takedown.
Koscheck wants to clinch but Catdad slips to the side

so Catdad counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Koscheck on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Koscheck tries to get out of the position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Catdad stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Koscheck swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Koscheck wants to get back to his feet but Catdad is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Koscheck can't keep his opponent in guard - Catdad advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Koscheck throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

Catdad postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Koscheck to stand up.

Catdad feints and as Koscheck raises his hands in defense, Catdad changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Koscheck is breathing heavily.

Koscheck looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Catdad has picked Koscheck up and slammed him! Koscheck can't keep hold of the triangle and Catdad manages to pass to side control!
Koscheck is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Catdad has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Koscheck is looking to regain half guard here but Catdad keeps moving and retains side control.

Catdad stands up and beckons Koscheck to his feet.

Catdad closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Koscheck did well to prevent Catdad getting side control.
Still in half guard, Catdad seems content to control.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Catdad connects with a nice short shot to Koscheck's temple.

Catdad stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Koscheck looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Josh Koscheck. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Catdad throws a sloppy head kick and Koscheck moves out of range easily.
Catdad shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Koscheck but Koscheck pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Catdad shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Koscheck is trying to defend but Catdad finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Catdad landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Well, if Catdad is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Koscheck wants to get back to his feet.

Catdad stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Catdad lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Catdad darts in and clinches Koscheck up against the cage.

Catdad's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Koscheck tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Catdad was well out of range. Poor timing from Koscheck.

Catdad gets a double leg takedown into Koscheck's guard.
Koscheck wants to stand up but Catdad is controlling him.

Catdad gets to his feet. Koscheck looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Catdad lands with a kick to the temple. Koscheck shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Catdad darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Catdad prevents Koscheck from improving his position.
Koscheck pushes Catdad off looking to stand but Catdad dives back in and keeps control.
Well, if Catdad is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Koscheck is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Douglas Catdad dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Catdad darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Catdad shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Koscheck has a takedown stuffed.

Catdad drives through and clinches with Koscheck against the cage.
Koscheck is working for takedown but Catdad is calmly controlling the position for now.
Koscheck is trying to break free.

Catdad's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Catdad darts in and clinches Koscheck up against the cage.
Catdad is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
A left hand lands to the body for Catdad.
Koscheck creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Koscheck being controlled against the cage.
Koscheck is looking to break free of the clinch but Catdad has double underhooks.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Catdad's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Catdad feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Catdad passes Koscheck's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Catdad in particular looking to stall.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Douglas Catdad wasn't active enough on the ground.

Catdad shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Catdad stands up and beckons Koscheck to join him on the feet.
Koscheck pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Catdad throws a right and a left that Koscheck avoids nicely.

Catdad shoots in looking for a takedown. Koscheck tries to sprawl out of it but Catdad keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Koscheck manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Josh Koscheck has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Douglas Catdad.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Koscheck knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Catdad on the ground.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Catdad shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Douglas Catdad showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Koscheck throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Catdad.

Koscheck wants to sweep here but Catdad controlling him for the moment.

Koscheck wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Catdad manages to pass to side control.
Koscheck is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Koscheck is trying to escape back to his feet but Catdad uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Koscheck is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Catdad has hold of Koscheck's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Koscheck tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Catdad cranks the arm and Koscheck screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Koscheck, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:05 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Douglas Catdad!
