PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Handy Manny (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Manny kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Knuckle UP. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Handy Manny!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paul Harris!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Edson Gomes and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Manny misses with a lunging right hand

so Harris counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Harris stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Manny swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Harris trying to control the position from guard on top but Manny is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Harris has gone for a leg lock! Manny slips out almost immediately though and dives into Harris's guard.
Manny being controlled here momentarily.
Manny has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Harris is proving hard to escape from.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Manny stays in close to Harris's body and controls the position.
Manny throwing strikes from guard but Harris blocks nicely.
Manny trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Manny avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Manny stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Harris swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Manny in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Harris is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Manny defends well.

Harris has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Manny can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Manny wants to stand and escape but instead Harris has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Manny wants to stand up but Harris is controlling him.
Harris passes Manny's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Harris seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Manny does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Manny is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Harris trying to pass the guard but Manny defending well.

Harris is working for an americana but Manny has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Harris was thinking about the submission.
Harris is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Harris trying to control the position from guard on top but Manny is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Harris trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Manny manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
Manny looking to sit in guard and control but Harris gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paul Harris dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Harris throws a body punch but Manny moves out of range.
Harris ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Manny doesn't manage to clinch there - Harris circles away.
Manny misses with a double jab

and Harris counters with a nice double leg into side control. Manny won't be happy with that.

Manny tries to bench press Harris off him but Harris keeps the position.
Manny is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Harris asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Harris tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Harris is putting a hurting on Manny here, landing some big shots from side control.

Harris wants to take a breather but Manny is having none of it.

Harris is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Manny sees it coming and defends easily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Harris lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Harris is working for a submission of some sort.

Harris wants to work for an arm triangle but Manny is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Harris trying to control but Manny is working from the bottom.
Harris might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Manny kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Manny wants to stand and escape but Harris is having none of it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Nice defenses there by Harris.

Harris slips a straight right by Manny.

Harris decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Harris wants to free his trapped foot but Manny is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Harris thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Manny keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Manny is refusing to be controlled, as Harris sits in half guard.

Harris seems to be looking for submissions.
Harris is thwarting Manny's attempts to control the position.

Harris is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Manny is just riding it out for now. Harris eventually gives up the hold.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paul Harris showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Harris moves out of range of the body kick from Manny.

Harris closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Manny blocking the ground and pound attempt from Harris.

Harris is working for a submission of some sort.
Manny wants to get back to his feet.

Harris perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Harris is just content to waste time from the top position. Manny takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Manny controls Harris momentarily but Harris frees himself.

Harris has gone for a leg lock! Manny slips out almost immediately though and dives into Harris's guard.

Manny lands a couple of elbows.
Manny is looking to advance position but Harris has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Harris cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Harris goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Manny is on top in guard.
Manny content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Manny looking to sit in guard and control but Harris gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Harris passes easily into side control. Nice work.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Paul Harris.
Well Harris has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3 rounds of action, we go to the scorecards for a decision.
