Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Seth Elowitz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stephen Koepfer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Koepfer has chosen Mongol as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Seth Elowitz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stephen Koepfer!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Lou da Vinci and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Elowitz fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Nice takedown defense from Koepfer. No joy for Elowitz on that attempt.
Koepfer lands a two punch combo.
Koepfer slaps away a takedown attempt from Elowitz, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Seth Elowitz. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Koepfer closes the distance and clinches.

Koepfer pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Koepfer gets a double leg takedown into Elowitz's guard.

Elowitz is looking to control Koepfer's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Elowitz avoid being mounted?

Koepfer misses with a head shot. Elowitz uses the momentum to regain guard.

Elowitz is looking to stand up but Koepfer isn't so interested in that idea.

Elowitz has a closed guard, preventing Koepfer from standing up.
Koepfer missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Koepfer stands up from Elowitz's guard - Koepfer perhaps looking for a knockout.
Koepfer throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Elowitz's head.
Elowitz shoots for a takedown but Koepfer saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Koepfer clinches up with Elowitz and pushes him back against the cage.

Koepfer has Elowitz pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Koepfer pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Elowitz tumbling to the mat - Koepfer dives into Elowitz's guard.

Koepfer gets to his feet. Elowitz looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Koepfer takes the fight into the clinch.

Koepfer breaks from the clinch.
Elowitz fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Koepfer avoids it really well and circles away.

Koepfer closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Koepfer prevents a takedown attempt there.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Elowitz tries to break the clinch but Koepfer is controlling the position.

Koepfer scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Koepfer gets a double leg takedown into Elowitz's guard.
Koepfer loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Koepfer looking to sit in guard and control but Elowitz gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Koepfer keeping moving, preventing Elowitz from controlling successfully.
Elowitz not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Elowitz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Koepfer swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Koepfer keeping moving, preventing Elowitz from controlling successfully.
Elowitz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Seth Elowitz just wasn't active enough.

Koepfer has Elowitz up against the cage in a clinch.

Koepfer turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Koepfer manages to end up in side control.

Elowitz is letting Koepfer control him for a moment.
Koepfer's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Koepfer tries to stand but Elowitz controls the position and pulls Koepfer into his guard.
Koepfer wants to control from the top but Elowitz keeps moving.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Stephen Koepfer.

Koepfer closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Elowitz did well to prevent Koepfer getting side control.
Koepfer lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Koepfer throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Koepfer tries to stand but can't do so whilst Elowitz controls his leg.
Elowitz slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Koepfer throws a strike but Elowitz rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Elowitz tries to free his leg and advance position but Koepfer is retaining full guard.
Elowitz postures up.
Elowitz wants to control from the top but Koepfer keeps moving.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Elowitz has gone for a leg lock! Koepfer slips out almost immediately though and dives into Elowitz's guard.

Stephen Koepfer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Koepfer's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Koepfer duly obliges.
Koepfer throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Koepfer goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Koepfer throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Elowitz was covering up waiting for the punch and Koepfer finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Koepfer with a flurry of punches that miss.
Koepfer throws a strike but Elowitz rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Elowitz gets to his feet. Koepfer looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Koepfer throws a head kick but Elowitz moves out of range.
Elowitz dives in and grabs Koepfer's left leg, looking for a takedown. Koepfer pushes down on Elowitz's head and hops out.
Elowitz changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Koepfer tries to avoid it but Elowitz manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Koepfer to the ground. Koepfer escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Elowitz misses with a takedown attempt
and Koepfer counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Seth Elowitz. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A nice combination there by Koepfer.

Koepfer has taken the fight to the clinch.
Elowitz drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Koepfer gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Elowitz wants to control from the top but Koepfer keeps moving.

Elowitz has gone for a leg lock! Koepfer slips out almost immediately though and dives into Elowitz's guard.
Elowitz is pulling down on Koepfer's head. It's preventing any offense from Koepfer, at least for the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Koepfer decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

A swing and a miss from Koepfer.

Stephen Koepfer is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Koepfer throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Koepfer rushes Elowitz and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Koepfer has clasped his hands together around Elowitz's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Koepfer wants to stand but Elowitz is controlling his arm.
Koepfer with the ground and pound but Elowitz regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Koepfer tries to stand but can't do so whilst Elowitz controls his leg.
Seth Elowitz has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Koepfer tries to pass to full mount but Elowitz defends it.
Stephen Koepfer is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Koepfer sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Elowitz defending well though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Koepfer decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Well Koepfer has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
