PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marcin Slabczak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Crafty Dog (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Crafty Dog will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marcin Slabczak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Crafty Dog!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Hugh Johnson and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slabczak takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Slabczak has managed to clinch.
Dog throws a head punch that misses.
Dog is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Dog wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Slabczak has him pressed against the cage.
Dog trying to control the position but instead, Slabczak has worked for underhooks and has pushed Dog into the cage.
Slabczak is pressed up against the cage. Dog has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Slabczak down to the mat. Slabczak avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Dog thows a body shot but no joy.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Dog tries to score a body lock takedown but Slabczak shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Slabczak breaks from the clinch.

Slabczak darts in and clinches Dog up against the cage.

Slabczak pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Slabczak.
Dog changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Slabczak avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Slabczak pushes Dog up against the cage in a clinch.

Slabczak escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Slabczak lands the left hand.
Slabczak throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Dog's waist but Dog gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Slabczak off to one side.

A jab lands there for Slabczak.
Dog cracks Slabczak with an open hand slap.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Dog rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Slabczak moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Slabczak fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marcin Slabczak. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Slabczak is breathing heavily.

Slabczak shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Dog is trying to defend but Slabczak finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Slabczak looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Dog with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Slabczak thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Dog's head.
Dog really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Slabczak. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Slabczak lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dog pushes Slabczak off looking to stand but Slabczak dives back in and keeps control.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Slabczak lands a nice short elbow.
Slabczak thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Slabczak thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Slabczak working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marcin Slabczak dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Slabczak lands a big right hand that drops Dog! The killer instinct kicks in and Slabczak finishes his opponent with a series of strikes from mount. A dominating finish by Slabczak!
