Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ginger Ayl (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gregory Steele (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ayl comes to the cage accompanied by white lighting. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steele doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Ayl counters with a right hand to the body.
Steele shoots in for a double leg but Ayl sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Ginger Ayl has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gregory Steele.

Steele is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
A nice elbow there by Steele.
Steele throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Ayl is looking to improve his position but Steele isn't that keen on the idea.
Ayl wants to control but Steele is having none of it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Steele frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Steele wants to control the pace but Ayl is squirming around nicely.

Steele is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Ayl to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Ayl shrugs it off.

Ayl is trying to get back to his feet but Steele has full control of the position and if anything, Ayl has just worked his way into a worse spot.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Steele connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Ayl to escape the position.

Steele shoots in for a takedown but Ayl shows good takedown defense.
Steele takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
A looping hook to the body misses from Ayl. Steele does a little dance to reset his feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Steele.
Ayl throws a nice looking combination but Steele bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Steele tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ayl sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Steele somewhat.

Steele changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ayl looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Steele is breathing heavily.

Ayl is not content to let Steele control the position.
Steele creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Ayl sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Steele cracks Ayl with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Gregory Steele has got the better of the ground game so far.
Ayl takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Steele has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Ayl is working to avoid the ground and pound but Steele connects with a decent elbow.

Steele tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Steele has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Steele has an Americana. Ayl didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Steele is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Steele hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
