Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Boris Pavlov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricardo Kipyatkov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Boris Pavlov!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ricardo Kipyatkov!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Vladimir Khabensky and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pavlov gets a clinch.
Kipyatkov wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Pavlov is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Kipyatkov is keeping busy.
Pavlov is pressed up against the ropes. Kipyatkov has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Pavlov down to the mat. Pavlov avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Kipyatkov closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Pavlov quickly recovers to half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Kipyatkov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pavlov keeps working.

Kipyatkov thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Kipyatkov is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Pavlov manages to get to full guard.
Pavlov pulls Kipyatkov in close to his closed guard and prevents Kipyatkov from doing any damage or advancing position.

Kipyatkov tries to stand but Pavlov is controlling from the bottom.
Pavlov has control of Kipyatkov's left arm, preventing Kipyatkov from doing any damage.
Pavlov lands a couple of shots from the bottom.
Pavlov wants to hit a switch here but Kipyatkov passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Pavlov there!
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Kipyatkov lands a big elbow.
Pavlov tries to hold on but Kipyatkov pushes him away.
Kipyatkov blocks Pavlov's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Pavlov is squirming around, avoiding Kipyatkov's attempts to control the action.
Kipyatkov throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Kipyatkov avoids the attempt from Pavlov to control.

Kipyatkov jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Pavlov manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Pavlov parries the strikes from Kipyatkov easily there. Kipyatkov is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Pavlov to escape.
Kipyatkov postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Pavlov tries to bench press Kipyatkov off him but Kipyatkov keeps the position.
Pavlov sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Pavlov makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Pavlov.
Kipyatkov wants to control from the top but Pavlov keeps moving.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Kipyatkov got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pavlov has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kipyatkov has managed to get both his arms back between Pavlov's legs - danger averted.

Kipyatkov won't allow Pavlov to sweep him here.
Pavlov is trying to control the position but Kipyatkov postures up.

Kipyatkov drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kipyatkov jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Pavlov is controlling Kipyatkov's posture.
Pavlov thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Kipyatkov has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Kipyatkov stands and throws Pavlov's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Pavlov on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Pavlov tries to get out of the position.
Pavlov is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Kipyatkov lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Pavlov down.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pavlov is trying to control Kipyatkov's posture but Kipyatkov avoids it.
What's Pavlov going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.

Kipyatkov tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kipyatkov has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Pavlov sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Kipyatkov looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Pavlov keeping hold of Kipyatkov's head, controlling as best he can.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Kipyatkov lands a nice short elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Boris Pavlov will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Kipyatkov shoots in for a takedown but Pavlov shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Pavlov shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Kipyatkov manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Kipyatkov is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Kipyatkov has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pavlov can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Kipyatkov is breathing heavily.

Kipyatkov has his foot on Pavlov's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pavlov works his way back into a safe position though.

Kipyatkov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Pavlov working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Kipyatkov's head.
Pavlov keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Kipyatkov's head.
Pavlov distracts Kipyatkov with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.


Kipyatkov is rocked!
Pavlov chips away with some ground and pound.
Kipyatkov is still in real trouble! Can Pavlov finish him?
Pavlov loads up on a big left hand. Kipyatkov felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Pavlov looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Kipyatkov can't hide his disappointment, as Pavlov celebrates the victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:01 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Boris Pavlov!
