Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Brian McGuire!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Donnie Badge!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Johanna Lukiainen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McGuire drops Badge with a nice combination! McGuire dives into Badge's guard, looking to finish!


Badge is rocked!


It looks like Donnie Badge has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Badge had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. McGuire defends it easily.
Badge is still in real trouble! Can McGuire finish him?

McGuire is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
McGuire tries to free his leg and advance position but Badge is retaining full guard.
Badge seems to have recovered his senses.
McGuire wants to control from the top but Badge keeps moving.
McGuire wants to pass the guard but Badge is keeping the position.
McGuire trying to control the position from guard on top but Badge is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

McGuire is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Badge is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Badge has escaped and now he's on top!
McGuire controls Badge momentarily but Badge frees himself.

Badge is in close to McGuire's body, working some short punches and elbows.
McGuire is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

McGuire is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Badge defends well.

McGuire wants to sweep here but Badge controlling him for the moment.

Badge got a little sloppy there for a moment and McGuire has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Badge has managed to get both his arms back between McGuire's legs - danger averted.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
McGuire manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Badge manages to get himself to full guard.

McGuire thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
McGuire stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Badge swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Badge wriggles free and stands up.
Badge throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
McGuire misses with a wild combination.
Badge throws a head kick but McGuire moves out of range.
Badge is looking to clinch but McGuire is avoiding it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Badge throws a right and a left that both miss.
Badge tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Badge looks gassed!
Badge defends well against a solid takedown attempt from McGuire.
Badge throws a hook but McGuire avoids it easily.

McGuire shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than McGuire was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Badge is squirming around, avoiding McGuire's attempts to control the action.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McGuire content just to control the position here.
McGuire can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Badge is looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Badge misses with a low kick.
Badge shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts McGuire as he jumps to the side.
Badge throws a head kick that misses.
Badge tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McGuire closes this distance looking for a takedown but Badge circles away.
McGuire throws a sloppy head kick and Badge moves out of range easily.
Badge takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Brian McGuire is winning the standup battle so far.

McGuire looks for a takedown but Badge sprawls well.
Badge defends well against a solid takedown attempt from McGuire.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brian McGuire. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Badge throws a push kick but McGuire slaps the foot to one side.
Badge looks to land a combination but McGuire avoids it well.
McGuire showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Badge.

Donnie Badge seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

McGuire shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

McGuire content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Badge is not content to let McGuire control the position.

McGuire is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

McGuire is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Badge doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time McGuire.

McGuire moves nicely into side control.

McGuire swings around for an armbar but Badge sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into McGuire's guard.
Badge wants to get up but he can't break McGuire's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

McGuire is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

McGuire escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Badge gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Badge is stalling in the full guard.

McGuire is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Badge tries to stand but McGuire is controlling from the bottom.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
McGuire controls Badge momentarily but Badge frees himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!


Badge throws a combination but it was largely blocked by McGuire.
McGuire looks for a takedown but Badge sprawls well.
Badge ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

McGuire looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Badge!
Badge's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
McGuire trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Badge trying desperately to get to his feet.
Badge takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

McGuire is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Badge has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Badge!
McGuire keeping moving, preventing Badge from controlling successfully.
McGuire is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Badge trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
McGuire is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

McGuire is looking for a kimura here.

McGuire is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Badge defends it well.
Badge is looking to escape.

McGuire is trying for a kimura here. Badge looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! McGuire wins by kimura!
