Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lyman Horseflesh!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Omar Mendes!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Russell Pearce and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from Mendes misses the target.
Horseflesh fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mendes avoids it really well and circles away.
Mendes lands a two punch combo.


It looks like Lyman Horseflesh has been cut.

Horseflesh dives in and scores a takedown into Mendes's guard.
Horseflesh trying to control the position from guard on top but Mendes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Mendes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Horseflesh. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Horseflesh's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Horseflesh jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Mendes walks away with a smile on his face. Horseflesh gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Omar Mendes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Horseflesh will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mendes lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Horseflesh looks for a takedown but Mendes sprawls well.
Horseflesh shoots in for a takedown but Mendes shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Mendes misses with a double jab.
Mendes lands with a nice combination. Horseflesh backs away looking to recover.
Mendes stalks Horseflesh and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Horseflesh's face. Horseflesh staggers backwards, shaken.
Omar Mendes is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Horseflesh tries to clinch up but Mendes circles away and keeps his distance.

Mendes throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mendes can do anything to dispel that myth.

Horseflesh is putting a hurting on Mendes here, landing some big shots from side control.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mendes is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Horseflesh is working for a kimura but Mendes is defending it quite comfortably.

Horseflesh shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mendes's guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Horseflesh has picked Mendes up - he's going for a ride! Horseflesh dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Horseflesh seems to be working for a kimura but Mendes defends the submission attempt.

Horseflesh throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Horseflesh tries to control but Mendes wriggling away.
Mendes takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Horseflesh has control of Mendes's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Mendes regains control of the situation pretty easily.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mendes tries to lock up and control but Horseflesh gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
