PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Simon Browne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jamie Cowlam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cowlam has chosen Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Cant Stop as his entrance music. Jamie Cowlam will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Browne tries for a takedown but Cowlam circles away easily
and Cowlam counters with a one-two to the body.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Cowlam wants to stand but Browne has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Browne moves out of range of the body kick.

Browne throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Cowlam tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Browne is in Cowlam's guard.

Browne seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Cowlam does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Cowlam is not content to let Browne control the position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Browne looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

We're going to have a standup here because Simon Browne wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Cowlam keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Browne gets caught flat footed, as Cowlam shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Browne tries to land a sweep but no joy.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Browne holds on and takes a little breather.
Cowlam wants to stand but Browne is controlling his posture from full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Cowlam pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Cowlam.
Cowlam throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Cowlam digs a good body shot into Browne's ribs.
Browne on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Cowlam takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Browne shoots in looking for a takedown but Cowlam manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Browne's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

That was a close second round but I would say that Simon Browne will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Jamie Cowlam comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Cowlam has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
