Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Benson Hamaka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenji Kawasaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Benson Hamaka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenji Kawasaki!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Sosuke Kotani and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hamaka throws a right hand that Kawasaki ducks under and follows up with a left that Kawasaki also avoids with ease.
No luck for Hamaka with that takedown attempt.

Kawasaki avoids a punch combination nicely.
Benson Hamaka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hamaka throws a series of strikes that have Kawasaki backpedaling.


It looks like Kenji Kawasaki has been cut.
Hamaka throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hamaka misses with a two punch combination.
Hamaka misses with a wild combination.

Hamaka misses with a jab, cross combination.
Kawasaki shoots in but Hamaka avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Kawasaki takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Hamaka throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A left and a right from Hamaka both land. Nice combination.
Hamaka throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Kawasaki changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hamaka tries to avoid it but Kawasaki manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hamaka to the ground. Hamaka escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Hamaka connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Kawasaki on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Kawasaki swats away the attempt to clinch by Hamaka.

Hamaka looks to land a combination but Kawasaki avoids it well.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Kawasaki counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Hamaka wants to stand and escape but Kawasaki is having none of it.
Hamaka throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Kawasaki sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hamaka's guard.
Kawasaki is taking a breather. Hamaka says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Hamaka works his way to full guard. Good work.
Kawasaki trying to control but Hamaka is working from the bottom.

Kawasaki is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Hamaka utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Kawasaki works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Hamaka knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kawasaki on the ground.
Kawasaki throwing shots but Hamaka is blocking nicely.

Kawasaki looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Kawasaki trying to control the action but Hamaka is working from the bottom.

Hamaka is looking to escape.
Kawasaki frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Kawasaki jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Hamaka is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Hamaka and Kawasaki has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Kawasaki tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kawasaki has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hamaka tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kawasaki wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hamaka wants to get back to his feet but Kawasaki drags him back down.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Hamaka's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Hamaka tries for a takedown but Kawasaki circles away easily

so Kawasaki counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Hamaka keeping moving, preventing Kawasaki from controlling successfully.
Hamaka wants to stand up but Kawasaki is controlling him.
Kawasaki tries to free his leg and advance position but Hamaka is retaining full guard.
Hamaka wants to sweep here but Kawasaki controlling him for the moment.

Kawasaki is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Hamaka wants to improve his position but Kawasaki is controlling well.
Kawasaki wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hamaka keeps working.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kawasaki is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hamaka is just riding it out for now. Kawasaki eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Hamaka tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Kawasaki manages to move to mount!

Kawasaki is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Hamaka has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Kawasaki is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Hamaka can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Kawasaki is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Hamaka is in real trouble.

Kawasaki has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Hamaka has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
