Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Colon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Peters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Colon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Peters!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Wesley Smith and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Colon scores a takedown into full mount!

Colon swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Peters is now in Colon's guard. A big mistake from Colon there, giving up the dominant position!
Peters won't allow Colon to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Peters loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Peters must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Peters closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Peters lands in his opponent's guard.

Colon escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Peters gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Peters has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Colon is proving hard to escape from.
Peters passes easily into side control. Nice work.
You can see the frustration on Colon's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Colon gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Peters thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Colon's head.
Colon is looking to control Peters's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Colon avoid being mounted?
Colon makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Colon.

Peters got a little sloppy there for a moment and Colon has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Peters has managed to get both his arms back between Colon's legs - danger averted.

Colon is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Peters wants to get back to full guard.

Peters is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Excellent takedown into side control there by Colon.
Colon lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Peters down.

Colon looks up at the clock and then as Peters takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Colon smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Colon is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Peters is just riding it out for now. Colon eventually gives up the hold.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Peters gets a clinch.

Peters has Colon pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Peters pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Colon tumbling to the mat - Peters dives into Colon's guard.

Colon has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Peters is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Colon.

Peters working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

I would just about give that final round to John Peters.
