The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jarvela cracks Smithies with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Jarvela has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Smithies to stand back up!
It looks like Gerry Smithies has been cut.
Jarvela throws the left hand but Smithies avoids the punch easily.
Nice sprawl there from Jarvela as Smithies shoots in.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jarvela swings for the body but Smithies moves out of range.
Jarvela lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Smithies up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Jarvela from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Smithies's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Juhani Jarvela!
