Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Foe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dwayne Hicks!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Hugh Johnson and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Foe drives through with a takedown into Hicks's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Foe connects with a couple of short punches.
Foe looking to sit in guard and control but Hicks gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Foe working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hicks doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hicks manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Hicks cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Foe tries to reverse the position but Hicks maintains control.

Foe in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Foe tries to lock up and control but Hicks gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Foe is squirming around, avoiding Hicks's attempts to control the action.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Hicks is nestled in close to Foe, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Hicks wants to lay and pray for a moment but Foe keeps working.

Foe shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hicks as he jumps to the side.
Foe uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Hicks.
Hicks takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Hicks throws a right and a left that both miss.
Hicks misses the shot to the body.
Foe walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.


Joe Foe's cut is getting worse.
Foe changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hicks tries to avoid it but Foe manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hicks to the ground. Hicks escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Dwayne Hicks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hicks stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hicks wants it to stay on the feet.

Hicks will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Foe tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hicks smiles and moves away.
Hicks has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Foe.

Hicks connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Foe's hands.
Foe uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hicks.
Hicks dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Foe lands a leg kick that knocks Hicks off balance momentarily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Foe swats away the attempt to clinch by Hicks.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Dwayne Hicks hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Foe shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Hicks throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Dwayne Hicks comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hicks has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
