PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Robin Banks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charles Manson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Manson is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Indian War Song. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Robin Banks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Charles Manson!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Donatello Bradman and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Manson walks into a straight right hand from Banks.
Manson wants to slow Banks down by chopping away at his legs.
Banks misses with a series of wild punches.
Robin Banks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Banks avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Manson misses the shot to the body.
Banks chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Manson can pounce on him.
Banks takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Manson clinches up against the cage.

Banks blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Manson tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Banks's elbow.
Banks is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Banks wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Manson has him pressed against the cage.
Manson misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Banks.
Manson keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Banks's efforts to push away.

Manson trying to control the position but instead, Banks has worked for underhooks and has pushed Manson into the cage.

Banks tries to break the clinch but Manson is controlling the position.
Manson is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Banks is keeping busy.
Banks dodges an elbow strike from Manson.
Banks can't break the clinch.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Manson gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Banks.
Banks tries to circle away but Manson has him pinned against the cage.

Banks is trying to force a seperation but Manson has the dominant position.

Manson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Banks tries to close the distance and clinch up but Manson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A combination from Banks does no damage.
Banks throws a series of punches but Manson avoids them all with ease.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Manson, right into the meat.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Manson.
Banks is breathing heavily.
Manson misses with a double jab.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Manson moves into range and clinches up with Banks.
Manson keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Banks's efforts to push away.
Banks managing to block the knees to the body from Manson.

Manson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Manson connects with a leg kick. Banks looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Charles Manson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Manson throws a solid leg kick but Banks takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Manson.
Manson goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Banks fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Manson feints and then cracks Banks's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Banks down.
Banks takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Manson does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Manson feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Banks's calf.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Manson scores with a kick to the body.
Banks has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Manson.
Manson lands a front kick.
Banks takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Manson connects with a jab.
Manson buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Manson. Banks shrugs it off though.
Manson scores with a kick to the midsection.
Manson lands a big head kick that sends Banks to the canvas! Manson follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Charles Manson!
