PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jordan Moss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Oliver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Moss comes into the arena with Frank Sinatra-Ain't that a Kick in the Head blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jordan Moss!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, James Oliver!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Ackerman and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moss shoots in looking for a takedown but Oliver manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Moss's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Moss shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Oliver as he avoids it easily.

and Oliver counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Oliver.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jordan Moss. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Moss has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Oliver is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Moss.

Moss gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Oliver trying to mount his opponent but Moss defends it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Moss flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Moss has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Oliver works his way into side control.
Oliver lands a decent elbow from side control.

Oliver tries to move to mount but Moss blocks the move with his legs.
Oliver is looking to take a break and control but Moss is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Moss is looking for a sweep.
Moss on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Moss is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Oliver off and has taken his back!
Oliver covering up well under a barage of strikes.
Oliver manages to reverse the position and now he's in Moss's guard. Nice work there by Oliver.
Oliver trying to control the position from guard on top but Moss is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Moss has his feet on Oliver's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Moss fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Moss is breathing heavily.
Moss lands with a kick to the temple. Oliver shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Moss misses with a takedown attempt - Oliver sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Oliver fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Oliver drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Oliver is trying to get an arm triangle but Moss is defending well.
Oliver lands a few punches from side control.

Oliver working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Oliver wants to lay and pray for a moment but Moss keeps working.
Moss is looking to regain half guard here but Oliver keeps moving and retains side control.
Oliver trying to control the position but Moss is working away.
Oliver might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Moss kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Moss is looking for a sweep.
Moss tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Oliver presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Moss is looking to improve his position but Oliver isn't that keen on the idea.
Oliver wants to control the pace but Moss is squirming around nicely.
Oliver pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Oliver tries to control but Moss wriggling away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
BOOM! Oliver connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Moss flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Moss is looking to get to half guard.
Moss is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Oliver can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Moss is looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Oliver dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Oliver throws out a powerful jab.
Jordan Moss is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Moss shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Oliver counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Oliver working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Moss throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Oliver slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Moss is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Moss has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Oliver off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Oliver lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Moss backs up against the cage.
Moss with a poor takedown
and Oliver counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Oliver is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Moss's half guard.
Oliver is nestled in close to Moss, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Oliver connects with a nice short shot to Moss's temple.
Oliver is trying to control the action in half guard but Moss is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Oliver is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Moss sees it coming and defends easily.
Oliver seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Moss does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Oliver passes to full mount!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The referee warns Moss that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Moss is rocked!
Oliver fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Oh Moss is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Moss is in all sorts of trouble here.
Moss takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Moss is squirming around, avoiding Oliver's attempts to control the action.
Oliver postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Moss badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Oliver around the waist but Oliver pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Oliver is the winner by TKO! Oliver jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James Oliver!
