Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Kirby (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jaqen Hghar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Kirby!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jaqen Hghar!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Skip Squint and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Kirby. Hghar does a little dance to reset his feet.

and Kirby takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Kirby avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Hghar drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Kirby connects with a good right hand that stumbles Hghar. Hghar circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Hghar closes the distance and clinches up with Kirby, looking for a takedown. Hghar pushes Kirby against the cage but Kirby circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
John Kirby has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jaqen Hghar.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hghar is defended easily by Kirby.
Hghar's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Kirby connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Hghar scrambles back to his feet.

Hghar bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
John Kirby is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Hghar shoots in looking for a takedown. Kirby tries to sprawl out of it but Hghar keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kirby manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Hghar.

Hghar is trying desperately to land a takedown but Kirby is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Hghar.

and Hghar counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Kirby!
Hghar sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Hghar is working for a guillotine from mount but Kirby frees his head quite easily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hghar throws some wild stikes that Kirby manages to avoid easily.

Hghar is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Kirby can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that John Kirby will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

No joy there for Kirby, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Hghar wants to control but Kirby is keeping him busy.
Kirby knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hghar on the ground.

Hghar swings around for an armbar but Kirby sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Hghar's guard.

Kirby is looking to advance position but Hghar has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Hghar has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Kirby's face.
Hghar misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Hghar is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Kirby is surviving well by controlling Hghar's body position as best he can.

Jaqen Hghar showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hghar closes the distance and clinches up with Kirby, looking for a takedown. Hghar pushes Kirby against the cage but Kirby circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

No luck for Hghar with that takedown attempt.
Kirby lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Hghar backs up against the cage.
Hghar shoots in for a double leg but Kirby sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
