The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Girl closes the distance and clinches up with Brooks, looking for a takedown. Girl pushes Brooks against the cage but Brooks circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Girl checks a low kick from Brooks.
A slow jab from Brooks misses its intended target.

Brooks gets tackled into the cage by Girl. Girl maintains the clinch.
Brooks wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Girl decides to pull guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Girl manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Brooks manages to get himself to full guard.

Girl is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Girl throwing strikes but missing.
Girl passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Brooks can't do much from the bottom here.
Girl content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Girl has eaten all the pies!

Girl lands a decent elbow from side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Girl is trying to get an arm triangle but Brooks is defending well.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Brooks is trying to improve his position.
Girl working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Brooks knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Girl on the ground.
