Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, David Murphy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
14 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ismo Laitela!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Tarja Halkonen and Matti Vanhoillinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murphy throws out a leg kick but Laitela moves out of range and Murphy only half commits.
Laitela doesn't succeed with the takedown
letting Murphy counter with a right hand.
Laitela looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Laitela.
David Murphy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ismo Laitela.
Laitela misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Murphy fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Laitela looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Laitela tries to close the distance and clinch up but Murphy swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Laitela throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Murphy sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Murphy throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Murphy moves out of range of the strikes.
Murphy slips under a jab from Laitela.
Laitela fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Laitela shoots in for a takedown but Murphy shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Laitela dives in and grabs Murphy's left leg, looking for a takedown. Murphy pushes down on Laitela's head and hops out.
Laitela looks gassed!
Murphy takes one on the button.
Murphy swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Murphy fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Laitela.
Murphy displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Laitela.
