PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Fox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fox has chosen Cant Be Touched by Roy Jones Jr. as his entrance music. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jack Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brian Fox!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Emerson Jorge and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fox connects with a body shot that sends Jackson's belly button to the back.
Fox moves out of range of the leg kick from Jackson.
Jackson thumps Fox with a low kick.
Jackson tried to score with a low kick but Fox checks it.
Jackson throws a lazy head kick
and Fox counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Jackson waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Fox.
Fox bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Fox staying out of range there.
Jackson steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Fox.
A decent looking cross lands there for Jackson.
Jackson throws a right hand that misses

and Fox decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Jackson's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Fox keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Jackson's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fox stands up from Jackson's guard - Fox perhaps looking for a knockout.
Jack Jackson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Jackson misses with an attempted mid kick.
Fox throws a series of punches but Jackson avoids them all with ease.
Fox takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Fox has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Fox there as he acknowledges the shot.
Jackson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Jackson scores with a leg kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jackson throws a jab but it's blocked by Fox.

Fox rushes Jackson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Fox taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jackson misses with a hook from the clinch.
Fox blocking some punches.
Jackson tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Fox's elbow.
Jackson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Fox just stands there and leans against the cage.
Jackson tries to pull guard but Fox won't allow it.

Fox jumps guard.
Jackson wants to pass the guard but Fox is keeping the position.

Jackson is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Fox is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Fox has escaped and now he's on top!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jackson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Jackson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Fox defends it well.
Fox trying to control from the bottom.

Jackson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Fox doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Jackson.

Jackson is trying to work for a kimura but Fox is defending well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Jackson is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Fox is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jack Jackson!
