Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Maek Houzo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Damon Pierce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pierce has chosen Eve 6 - Inside Out as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Damon Pierce!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Donatello Bradman and John Mangel.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pierce is trying hard to land a takedown here. Houzo sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Pierce wants to clinch.
Pierce has his takedown stuffed
and Houzo counters with a nice uppercut.
Houzo jabs Pierce to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Houzo lands a nice shot to the body.
Pierce tries to clinch up.

Houzo connects with a right hand. Pierce shakes it off.
Pierce takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Houzo ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Pierce moves away.

Houzo looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Houzo is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Pierce!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looks like Damon Pierce has been cut.
Houzo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Pierce sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Pierce is looking to improve his position.
Pierce works his way to full guard. Good work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Houzo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pierce swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Houzo might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Houzo wants to control from the top but Pierce keeps moving.

Houzo has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

We're going to have a standup here because Maek Houzo wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
A big right from Houzo misses.

Houzo decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Houzo lands strikes from half guard.

That has opened up Damon Pierce's cut even more.

Pierce tries to roll over but Houzo keeps him under control.
Houzo moves into full mount! Pierce won't be happy about that!
Pierce is looking to improve his position but Houzo isn't that keen on the idea.
BOOM! Houzo connects with a massive shot to the dome!

The cut above Damon Pierce's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Houzo tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Pierce is working to get back to half guard.
Houzo controlling his opponent.
Houzo with the ground and pound from mount.

Damon Pierce's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

Houzo trying to control but Pierce is having none of it.
Houzo prevents Pierce from getting the reversal.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Pierce tries to lock up and control but Houzo gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Pierce is wriggling around trying to escape.
Pierce tries to hold on but Houzo postures up.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Damon Pierce's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
