Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Steve Jenkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Saplin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jenkins kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is In The Morning. Saplin has chosen Invincible as his entrance music. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marcus Saplin!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Cecil Peabody and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Jenkins is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Saplin is defending well for now.
Saplin blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Saplin counters with a good low kick that Jenkins was not able to check.
Saplin is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jenkins sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Saplin is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Saplin on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Jenkins scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Nice uppercut lands for Jenkins. That snapped Saplin's head back.
Saplin sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Good leg kick by Jenkins there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Saplin chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Jenkins can pounce on him.

Saplin takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Saplin closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jenkins circles away.

Saplin's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

Saplin takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Saplin goes for a takedown attempt but Jenkins pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jenkins throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

A punch lands to the side of Saplin 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Jenkins throws the kick towards the body but Saplin avoids it.
Saplin fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Horrible takedown by Saplin or perhaps it was just good defense by Jenkins which made him look bad.
Saplin takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

That has opened up Marcus Saplin's cut even more.
Saplin tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jenkins sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Saplin somewhat.
Steve Jenkins is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Jenkins slaps away a takedown attempt from Saplin, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Saplin fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jenkins avoids it really well and circles away.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jenkins pushes Saplin back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Saplin is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Jenkins creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Saplin's defenses.
Marcus Saplin has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Saplin tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well Jenkins has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
