Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dennis Wong!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wong avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Hunter will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Hunter shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Hunter fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Wong avoids it really well and circles away.

Hunter misses with a looping right.
Wong scores with a jab.
Hunter shoots in for a double leg but Wong sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Wong rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hunter moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Wong throws a jab but it's blocked by Hunter.

and Wong makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Hunter fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Dennis Wong is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Hunter closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Wong wants to control the action here but instead Hunter manages to pass to full mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wong is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Hunter has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Hunter jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Wong manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Hunter wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Wong, who protects the arm well.
Wong is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Hunter has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Wong gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Hunter breaks from Wong's wrist control and lands an elbow.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Hunter cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A big strike lands for Hunter! That's really hurt Wong and he's turned his back - Hunter keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Hunter jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jay Hunter!
