Matsumoto kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Sepultura - Territory . The crowd seem to be enjoying Spliffenberger's choice of entrance music: Roll 'em Up. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jaydub Spliffenberger!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Ren Mimura and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matsumoto scores with a kick to the midsection.
Matsumoto misses with a looping right.

Matsumoto drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Spliffenberger is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Matsumoto defends well.

Matsumoto drops back looking for a leg! Spliffenberger is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Spliffenberger manages to kick Matsumoto off! Matsumoto jumps back into Spliffenberger's guard.

Spliffenberger had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Matsumoto defends it easily.

Matsumoto throws a big right hand that misses.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Matsumoto postures up in Spliffenberger's guard and throws a big left but Spliffenberger blocks it.
Spliffenberger has his hands on Matsumoto's head, controlling the position.
Matsumoto wants to control from the top but Spliffenberger keeps moving.

Matsumoto creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Spliffenberger sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Matsumoto grinds an elbow into Spliffenberger's temple.
Matsumoto lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Spliffenberger down.

Matsumoto is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Spliffenberger can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Spliffenberger is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Matsumoto lands a big shot there that rocks Spliffenberger but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
