Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Neil McKenzie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Okto Maniani (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Neil McKenzie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Okto Maniani!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McKenzie shoots in but no luck this time.

Maniani changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. McKenzie looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
McKenzie tries to improve position but can't.
McKenzie is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
McKenzie tries to get to full guard but Maniani has control of the leg.

Maniani moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from McKenzie.
McKenzie really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Maniani wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by McKenzie, who protects the arm well.

McKenzie tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Maniani wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Maniani is looking to take a break and control but McKenzie is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

McKenzie wants to improve his position but Maniani is controlling well.

McKenzie throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Maniani escapes and throws McKenzie's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Maniani tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Maniani has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Okto Maniani seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McKenzie fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Maniani avoids it really well and circles away.
Maniani on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


McKenzie shoots for a takedown but Maniani saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
McKenzie lands a nice looking body shot.
Maniani keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
McKenzie shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Maniani sprawls well. Maniani wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. McKenzie gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Neil McKenzie. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Maniani takes a swing at McKenzie's ribcage but misses.
McKenzie stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Maniani looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? McKenzie is fending him off so far but Maniani persists. Nope, McKenzie circles away and we're back to standing.

McKenzie throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Maniani's waist but Maniani gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McKenzie off to one side.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. McKenzie connects with a nice short shot to Maniani's temple.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Maniani has McKenzie pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Maniani pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending McKenzie tumbling to the mat - Maniani dives into McKenzie's guard.

Maniani is bucking up trying to escape but McKenzie cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

McKenzie got a little sloppy there for a moment and Maniani has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, McKenzie has managed to get both his arms back between Maniani's legs - danger averted.

Neil McKenzie is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
McKenzie throws a strike but Maniani rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Neil McKenzie showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for McKenzie, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
