Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yoshihro Akiyama!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Hirohito Nitta and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akiyama looks for a takedown but Gardan sprawls well.
Akiyama fails with a takedown attempt.
Akiyama just misses with a punch to the body.
Akiyama dives in and grabs Gardan's left leg, looking for a takedown. Gardan pushes down on Akiyama's head and hops out.
Laurent Gardan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yoshihro Akiyama.
Akiyama fails to land the takedown.
Yoshihro Akiyama seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gardan displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Akiyama.
Akiyama shoots for a takedown but Gardan saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Akiyama looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gardan is fending him off so far but Akiyama persists. Nope, Gardan circles away and we're back to standing.

and Gardan counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Akiyama thinking.

Gardan connects with a leg kick. Akiyama looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Akiyama closes this distance looking for a takedown but Gardan circles away.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Crunch! Gardan slams his shin into Akiyama's torso.
Akiyama tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Gardan instigates a clinch.
The referee calls for Gardan to work.
Akiyama has Gardan pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Gardan manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

It looks like Yoshihro Akiyama has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gardan comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Gardan lands a big right hand that drops Akiyama! The killer instinct kicks in and Gardan finishes his opponent with a series of strikes from mount. A dominating finish by Gardan!
