PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Darian Gorman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sparky Jenkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jenkins has chosen im comin as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Darian Gorman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sparky Jenkins!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Dillan Fox and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jenkins changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gorman tries to avoid it but Jenkins manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gorman to the ground. Gorman escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jenkins avoids the head kick by Gorman.
Gorman doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Jenkins counters with a stiff right hand.
Jenkins misses with a hook.
Gorman wants to clinch

and Jenkins counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jenkins is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Gorman has managed to free his arm - good work.

Jenkins tries to pass the half guard into mount. Gorman knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Jenkins is working for a kimura here but Gorman manages to reverse the position and he's now in Jenkins's guard.

Gorman stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Gorman rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jenkins moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

and Jenkins counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Jenkins uses his free foot to push down on Gorman's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Gorman.

Gorman wants to try and get back to his feet.

Jenkins with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Jenkins goes for an armbar but Gorman turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Gorman.

Jenkins is working an open guard so Gorman takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jenkins ducks right into an uppercut from Gorman.
Jenkins avoids the body shot from Gorman.
Gorman throws a nice head kick!

Gorman clinches but Jenkins breaks the clinch

so Jenkins counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Jenkins wants to pass the guard but Gorman is keeping the position.

Jenkins drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jenkins jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Jenkins passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Gorman knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jenkins on the ground.

Gorman is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Jenkins asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Gorman pushes Jenkins away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Jenkins gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jenkins tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jenkins has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sparky Jenkins dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Gorman darts in trying to clinch

and Jenkins counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Jenkins is pushing down on Gorman's leg trying to pass to half guard. Gorman is fighting to maintain full guard but Jenkins has managed to sneak the leg through.
Jenkins working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Gorman's thigh. Gorman counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Jenkins tries to free his leg and advance position but Gorman is retaining full guard.
Jenkins passes Gorman's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Jenkins is working for a kimura but Gorman is defending it quite comfortably.

Gorman pushes Jenkins off and gets back to his feet.

Horrible takedown by Gorman or perhaps it was just good defense by Jenkins which made him look bad.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Jenkins blocks a leg kick.
Jenkins moves away from the strike by Gorman.

Jenkins shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Gorman squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

Gorman defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Jenkins.
Jenkins forces the positional change into back control.
Gorman holding both Jenkins 's hands and preventing any damage.

Gorman trying to get back to his feet but Jenkins is in full control for now.

Jenkins is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Gorman with him. Gorman is trying to defend but Jenkins has an arm under the chin now! Gorman grimaces and is forced to tap out!
