The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruz fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Shnaget manages to avoid it.
Shnaget misses with a two punch combination.
Cruz throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Shnaget throws a nice looking combination but Cruz bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
A head kick misses from Cruz.
Shnaget tries to bum rush Cruz with a series of wild strikes but Cruz uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Cruz avoids a punch combination nicely.
Cruz slips a jab and a cross from Shnaget.
Shnaget uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Cruz.
Cruz feints and then cracks Shnaget's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Shnaget down.
Cruz throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Shnaget takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Dominick Cruz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Shnaget is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Cruz feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Shnaget's calf.
Shnaget misses with a wild combination.
Shnaget lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Cruz circles away quickly and effectively.
Cruz lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Shnaget misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

and Cruz counters with a right hand to the body.
Cruz closes the distance and lands a one-two.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Shnaget stalks Cruz and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Cruz's face. Cruz staggers backwards, shaken.

Cruz lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Cruz throws a one two combo.

Shnaget is rocked!
Cruz throws a powerful right kick. Shnaget tried to block low but the kick was high! Shnaget was taken right off of his feet! Cruz jumps in to finish the job and the ref tackles him! The fight is over!
