Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Big Pox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dwight Elkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pox's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, With a little help from my friends. Elkins comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Care Bear Countdown kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Big Pox!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dwight Elkins!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Robert Douchet and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Elkins misses with a hook
and Pox counters with a good low kick that Elkins was not able to check.
Pox uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Elkins.

Pox moves into range and clinches up with Elkins.
A head punch on the inside from Pox fails to land.
Pox lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Elkins has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Pox avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Pox swings wildly with an uppercut but Elkins uses good head movement to avoid it.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Pox.
Elkins misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Pox.
Pox doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Pox lands a shoulder strike.
Pox misses with a hook from the clinch.
Pox misses with a hook to the ribs.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pox lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Elkins tries for a takedown but Pox manages to get underhooks.
Pox misses with a punch on the inside.
Pox doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Elkins wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Pox has him pressed against the cage.
Pox swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Elkins drops down looking for an ankle pick but Pox pulls his leg out and moves away.
Big Pox has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dwight Elkins.
Pox tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Pox checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Pox stuffs the takedown.
Elkins dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Pox. That did some damage!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Elkins fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Pox sprawls well initially but Elkins persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Pox has hold of Elkins's hands but Elkins slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pox keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Elkins thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Pox's head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Elkins controlling the pace.
Elkins not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Elkins thows a huge punch but Pox dodges it nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Elkins misses with a head shot. Pox uses the momentum to regain guard.
Elkins throwing strikes but missing.
Elkins tries to free his leg and advance position but Pox is retaining full guard.
Elkins wants to control from the top but Pox keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pox avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Elkins in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Elkins distracts Pox with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Elkins scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Pox utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Pox keeping moving, preventing Elkins from controlling successfully.
Pox avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dwight Elkins dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Pox chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Elkins can pounce on him.
Elkins looks for the body kick but Pox saw that one coming.
Pox scores with a decent looking hook.
Pox misses with a body shot.
Elkins blocks a low kick nicely.
Pox avoids the head kick by Elkins.
Elkins throws a nice outside leg kick.
Pox thows a left - swing and a miss!
Pox takes a kick to the side of the head.
Elkins throws a leg kick but Pox moved away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Good work by Pox as he checks the leg kick.
Pox feints and then cracks Elkins's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Elkins down.
Pox fails with an attempt to clinch.
Dwight Elkins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Elkins throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Pox throws a shot from downtown. Elkins moves away and avoids it.
Elkins keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Pox.
Elkins throws a body kick that misses.
Elkins looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Elkins throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Elkins scores a takedown into full mount!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Elkins throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
You get the feeling that Pox really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Pox holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Elkins tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Elkins postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Pox looks a forlorn figure.
Elkins has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Elkins connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Elkins putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Elkins lands with some strikes.
Pox is working to get back to half guard.
Elkins looking to finish Pox with some ground and pound. This is bad for Pox!
Elkins with shots to the head and body - Pox looks very uncomfortable down there.


Pox is rocked!
Elkins postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Pox bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Elkins and the fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:03 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dwight Elkins! Dwight Elkins retains his middleweight title!
