Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Devin Murphy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Desi Venetiaan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Devin Murphy has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Desi Venetiaan!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and Dillan Fox.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Murphy decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Venetiaan is pressing down on Murphy's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Venetiaan is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Murphy tries to work over Venetiaan's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Murphy decides to pull guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Venetiaan thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Venetiaan slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Desi Venetiaan wasn't active enough on the ground.

It looks like Devin Murphy has been cut.

Murphy manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Venetiaan on his heels. He'll look to pass Venetiaan's guard now, I'm sure.

Murphy has had enough of the clinch but Venetiaan keeps him there for the moment.

Murphy breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Venetiaan tests Murphy's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Murphy has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Venetiaan finds it's way round the side to connect with Murphy's head.

Murphy doesn't manage to clinch there - Venetiaan circles away.
Venetiaan looks to land a left hand but Murphy moved out of range nicely.
Murphy is aggressively charging in as Venetiaan backs up avoiding any damage. Venetiaan tosses out a jab and Murphy runs right into it face first! Murphy is out cold! Venetiaan dropped down on all fours and is barking in Murphy's face like a pit bull in celebration until the ref was finally able to pull him away!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Desi Venetiaan!
