PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Yefar Mehwadi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Billy Jean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mehwadi comes to the cage accompanied by Khe Sahn. Yefar Mehwadi looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Billy Jean!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Anthony Taglia and Jonathan Paton.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mehwadi shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jean as he avoids it easily.
Mehwadi has a takedown stuffed.

Mehwadi bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Mehwadi is breathing heavily.
Jean tries to buck Mehwadi off but Mehwadi is having none of it.
Jean is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Jean manages to work his way to half guard, despite Mehwadi's best efforts.
Jean is looking for a sweep. Mehwadi is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jean looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mehwadi will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yefar Mehwadi. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mehwadi shoots in but no luck this time.

Jean closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Jean is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mehwadi is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Jean swings around for an armbar but Mehwadi sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Jean's guard.
Jean tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Mehwadi avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Jean looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Mehwadi has picked Jean up and slammed him! Jean can't keep hold of the triangle and Mehwadi manages to pass to side control!

Mehwadi has an Americana. Jean didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Mehwadi is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Mehwadi hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
