Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cross Archangel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Lake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lake shoots in for a double leg but Archangel sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Lake shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Archangel sprawls well. Archangel wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Lake gets slowly back to his feet.
Archangel leaves Lake with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Cross Archangel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Lake.

Archangel throws a series of punches but Lake avoids them all with ease.
Archangel swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Lake shoots for a double leg takedown but Archangel sprawls well. He's pushed Lake's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Archangel stuffs the takedown attempt from Lake. Lake gets slowly back to his feet.

James Lake seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Archangel throws a right and a left that Lake avoids nicely.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Lake.
Lake looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Archangel is fending him off so far but Lake persists. Nope, Archangel circles away and we're back to standing.

and Archangel counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Lake closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Archangel is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Lake asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lake is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Archangel has escaped the position, nice work there.

Lake throws an elbow but Archangel slips to the side and avoids it well.

Archangel on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Archangel tries to get out of the position.

Lake misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Archangel takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Lake tries to score with some ground and pound. Archangel controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Lake in side control, throwing shots but Archangel defends.
Lake creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Archangel sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Lake is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Archangel is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Lake prevents Archangel from escaping the position.

Lake has hold of Archangel's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Archangel tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Lake cranks the arm and Archangel screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Archangel, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
