PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Bader (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Cooperman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bader comes to the cage accompanied by 99 Problems. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ryan Bader!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Cooperman!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Yves DeLean and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bader doesn't manage to clinch there - Cooperman circles away.
Bader fails with the takedown.
A looping hook to the body misses from Cooperman. Bader does a little dance to reset his feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Bader.
Cooperman misses the shot to the body.
Bader has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Cooperman finds it's way round the side to connect with Bader's head.
Bader tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cooperman swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Nice defenses there by Bader.
Bader dodges the punch combination from Cooperman.
Ryan Bader seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cooperman displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Bader.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ryan Bader. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cooperman connects with a nice looking jab.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bader tries to clinch up.
Bader shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Cooperman as he avoids it easily.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Bader is defended easily by Cooperman.
Cooperman lands a glancing blow to the side of Bader's head.
Cooperman just misses with a punch to the body.
Bader ducks under a wild hook from Cooperman.
Cooperman lands with a shot to the body.
Bader misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Bader will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Donk. Cooperman catches Bader right on the button with a cross.
Cooperman connects with a good right hand that stumbles Bader. Bader circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Bader shoots in but Cooperman avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Bader is breathing heavily.
Bader tries to clinch but Cooperman is having none of it.
Bader doesn't manage to clinch there - Cooperman circles away.
Cooperman fails to land with a series of punches.
Cooperman has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Bader looks to land a combination but Cooperman avoids it well.
Bader drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Cooperman lands with a shot to the body.
Cooperman lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.


It looks like Ryan Bader has been cut.
Cooperman thuds a left hand into Bader's body.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bader shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Cooperman pinned against the cage. Cooperman gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Cooperman keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Cooperman lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Cooperman scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Bader takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.


Bader is rocked!
Cooperman comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Oh Bader is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Cooperman is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Cooperman throws a monster overhand right that drops Bader! Cooperman follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Cooperman!
