Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jon James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Logan Smart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Logan Smart!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smart misses with the combination.
Smart moves out of range of the body kick.
James misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
James fails with the takedown

and Smart counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Smart gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
James shoots in for a double leg but Smart sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jon James. That's going to take a lot out of him.
James changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Smart darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Smart is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Smart escapes and gets back to his feet.

It looks like Smart might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Smart lands a nice short elbow.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Smart works his way into side control.
Smart looks up at the clock and then as James takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Smart smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

James is letting Smart control him for a moment.
James is looking to regain half guard here but Smart keeps moving and retains side control.
A lull in the action here as Smart stalls from top position.

Logan Smart has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Smart closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming James to the mat! James manages to get full guard.
Smart advances to half guard.

Smart decides to return to a standing position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Smart takes the fight into the clinch.

James is fighting off a takedown attempt but Smart is just too persistent for him and manages to trip James to the mat. James regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Smart stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Smart bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Logan Smart dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



James tries to sprawl but Smart drives through with a takedown into half guard.
James wants to control but Smart is keeping busy.
Smart perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

James looking for a kimura from the bottom but Smart passes into side control!
Smart cracks James with a big right hand but James just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Smart decides to stand back up.
James shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Smart as he jumps to the side.

Smart scores with a takedown into James's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Smart lands a couple of digs.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
James can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Smart controls the pace.

Smart gets to his feet - James follows without any prompting.

Smart scores a takedown into full mount!
Smart lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Smart tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Smart stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Smart scores with a takedown into James's guard.

Smart gets to his feet. James looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Smart throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. James was covering up waiting for the punch and Smart finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Smart gets to his feet. James looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

James gets caught flat footed, as Smart shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Smart looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Smart decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on James, up you get!

Smart drives through with a takedown into guard.

Smart gets to his feet. James looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Smart feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Smart decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on James, up you get!
James throws a leg kick but Smart sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Smart is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in James's half guard.
James is looking to control Smart's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can James avoid being mounted?
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
James is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Logan Smart showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!



Smart rushes James and presses him up against the cage.

Smart lands a takedown into guard.
James knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smart on the ground.

James has an active guard here but Smart has managed to pass into half guard.
Smart is controlling the pace.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Smart working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Smart stands up out of the half guard.

Smart shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

James takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Logan Smart has got the better of the ground game so far.
Smart cracks James with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

James is in all sorts of trouble here.
Smart controlling from the full mount.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A nice elbow there by Smart.
Smart content just to control the position here.

Smart connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Smart controlling his opponent.

Smart dominating with strikes here.
Smart raining down hammerfists from mount.
Smart pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Smart takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Smart is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Smart!
