Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Charles Payette (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yakko Warner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Charles Payette!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Yakko Warner!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Skip Squint and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Payette closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Warner to the mat! Warner manages to get full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Warner working for submissions but it's allowed Payette to get to half guard.
Payette really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Payette wants to control but Warner is keeping him busy.

Warner looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Warner gets full guard.

Warner has his foot on Payette's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Payette works his way back into a safe position though.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Warner has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Payette is working away from the top position though.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

so Warner counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Payette keeping full guard, as Warner tries to pass.

Warner tries to free his leg and advance position but Payette is retaining full guard.
Warner trying to control the position from guard on top but Payette is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Payette wants to stand up but Warner is controlling him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Warner postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Payette is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Warner, into his guard.

Warner is trying to control the position but Payette postures up.
Payette will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Payette is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Warner is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Payette regains full guard. Nicely done.

Payette is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Warner should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Payette looking to hit a scissor sweep but Warner is one step ahead there.

Payette with a lazy takedown attempt

Payette is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Warner off and has taken his back!
Payette lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
Warner rolls, trying to escape but Payette keeps control of the position.
Warner is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Warner manages to reverse the position and now he's in Payette's guard. Nice work there by Warner.

Warner is just content to waste time from the top position. Payette takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Warner wants to pass the guard but Payette is keeping the position.
Warner stands and throws Payette's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Warner really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Payette. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Payette moves into full guard.
Payette trying to control the position.
Payette utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Yakko Warner has got the better of the ground game so far.
Payette keeping moving, preventing Warner from controlling successfully.
Payette lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Warner!

Yakko Warner showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Payette gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Warner trying to control but Payette is working from the bottom.

Warner has gone for a leg lock! Payette slips out almost immediately though and dives into Warner's guard.

Warner is looking for a triangle but Payette pushes his legs off easily.
Payette postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Warner is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Payette jumps into side control!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Warner can do anything to dispel that myth.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Payette managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Warner.

Warner is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Payette is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Yakko Warner comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Warner has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
