PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steve Rogers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rogers comes to the cage accompanied by American Badass by Kid Rock. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steve Rogers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Phil Davis!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Rogers misses.
Rogers throws a quick inside leg kick.
Davis slips a jab and a cross from Rogers.
Davis shoots for a takedown but Rogers saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Davis throws a series of punches but Rogers avoids them all with ease.
Davis dives in and grabs Rogers's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rogers pushes down on Davis's head and hops out.
A lazy left from Davis finds it's target.
Davis misses with a jab, cross combination.
Davis has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Rogers finds it's way round the side to connect with Davis's head.

Davis tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Rogers is able to avoid easily.
Rogers throws a low kick but it's checked well by Davis.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Davis counters with a stiff right hand.
Rogers is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.

Davis stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Rogers.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Davis throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rogers's waist but Rogers gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Davis off to one side.

Rogers dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Davis. That did some damage!

Davis on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Rogers fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Davis has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Davis is trying desperately to land a takedown but Rogers is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Davis.

Rogers is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Davis can do to turn this around?

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
