The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Soler tries to clinch up but Cartofell circles away and keeps his distance.
Soler throws the kick towards the body but Cartofell avoids it.
Cartofell moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Cartofell pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Soler avoids a punch combination nicely.
Soler tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Soler gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Soler ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Soler no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Cartofell avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Soler is pulling down on Cartofell's head. It's preventing any offense from Cartofell, at least for the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cartofell trying to control but Soler is working from the bottom.
Cartofell will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Soler takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Cartofell fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Soler.

Soler closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Soler lands in his opponent's guard.
Soler tries to free his leg and advance position but Cartofell is retaining full guard.

Soler wants to get up but he can't break Cartofell's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Soler is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Cartofell seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Cartofell lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

Soler closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Cartofell quickly recovers to half guard.
Cartofell holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Cartofell looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Cartofell looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Soler shoots in looking for a takedown. Cartofell tries to sprawl out of it but Soler keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cartofell manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Pablo Cartofell is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Soler fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Soler will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Soler moves in looking to clinch but Cartofell pushes him off.

Soler closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Cartofell to the mat! Cartofell manages to get full guard.
Soler wants to control from the top but Cartofell keeps moving.
Soler tries to free his leg and advance position but Cartofell is retaining full guard.
Soler must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Soler gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Cartofell to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Cartofell throws a right and a left that Soler avoids nicely.

Cartofell lands a leg kick that knocks Soler off balance momentarily.

Soler scores a takedown into full mount!
Soler prevents Cartofell from getting the reversal.
Soler postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Cartofell looks a forlorn figure.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Cartofell is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Soler has taken his back.
Soler wants to control but Cartofell manages to buck him off and is now in Soler's guard! Nice work there by Cartofell!

Cartofell gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cartofell misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Some bone on bone action there as Soler checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fidel Soler showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Soler doesn't manage to clinch there - Cartofell circles away.
Soler moves out of range of the body kick.
Soler on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Cartofell throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Cartofell fails to land with a series of punches.

Cartofell gets caught flat footed, as Soler shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Soler gets to his feet - Cartofell follows without any prompting.
Cartofell pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Soler works Cartofell's body with a nice hook.
Soler fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Cartofell avoids it really well and circles away.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Soler decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Soler wants to get back to his feet.
Soler takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Soler is looking for a kimura here.
Soler wants to free his trapped foot but Cartofell is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Soler wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cartofell keeps working.

Soler jumps guard and drags Cartofell to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Cartofell stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Soler swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Fidel Soler is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well Soler has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
