Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Victor Hugo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Febra Velascez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Velascez has chosen brown pride as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Victor Hugo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Febra Velascez!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Alexandre Firmino and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hugo keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Velascez.
Hugo slips under a jab from Velascez.
Velascez misses with a hook

and Hugo moves into the clinch.
Velascez gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Hugo.
Velascez has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Hugo avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Velascez prevents the takedown attempt.
Hugo drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Velascez gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Victor Hugo. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Velascez is pressed up against the cage. Hugo has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Velascez down to the mat. Velascez avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Febra Velascez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Velascez feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Hugo sprawling to the canvas! Hugo rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Velascez finish him?!


Hugo is rocked!


It looks like Victor Hugo has been cut.

Velascez drops Hugo with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Hugo looks back up at him and smiles so Velascez waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Oh Hugo is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Hugo scores with a takedown into Velascez's guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Hugo is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Hugo trying to control but Velascez is working from the bottom.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Victor Hugo has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Velascez moves into the clinch.
Hugo seems to have got his legs back now.

Velascez lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Hugo is looking to improve his position.
Hugo wants to control but Velascez is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Hugo desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Velascez content to control rather than advance.
Hugo really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Velascez throws a jab when Hugo was well out of range.
Velascez looks for a takedown but Hugo sprawls well.

Velascez rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Hugo counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Velascez's guard now.

Hugo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hugo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Velascez can do anything to dispel that myth.
Hugo wants to control from the top but Velascez keeps moving.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Hugo is stalling in the full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Victor Hugo just wasn't active enough.
Velascez leaves Hugo with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Hugo shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Hugo drops back looking for a leg! Velascez is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Velascez manages to kick Hugo off! Hugo jumps back into Velascez's guard.
Hugo wants to control from the top but Velascez keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Velascez looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Hugo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Velascez tries to avoid it but Hugo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Velascez to the ground. Velascez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Hugo has a takedown stuffed.

Hugo tries for a takedown but Velascez sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Victor Hugo. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Velascez lands a left and a right that send Hugo crashing to the mat, dazed. Velascez thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Velascez throws a right hand that Hugo ducks under and follows up with a left that Hugo also avoids with ease.

Velascez misses with a hook. Hugo ducked under it nicely.
Hugo avoids a punch combination nicely.

Hugo is looking to clinch but Velascez is avoiding it.
Donk. Velascez catches Hugo right on the button with a cross.

Velascez closes the distance and clinches up with Hugo, looking for a takedown. Velascez pushes Hugo against the cage but Hugo circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Hugo shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Velascez but Velascez pushes him off and we're back to square one.

so Hugo counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hugo not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Hugo will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Hugo shoots in for a takedown but Velascez shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Hugo shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Hugo showed some decent athleticism there.

Hugo uses his free foot to push down on Velascez's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Velascez.
Velascez has given up his back. Will we see Hugo going for some submissions?
Hugo is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.

Velascez needs to remain patient if he's going to get out of this sticky situation.
Velascez is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Hugo has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hugo is not going to allow Velascez to sit and survive in this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Hugo slaps away a takedown attempt from Velascez, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Hugo is trying hard to land a takedown here. Velascez sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Hugo tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Hugo walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Hugo doesn't manage to clinch there - Velascez circles away.
Hugo takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Velascez swats away the attempt to clinch by Hugo.

Velascez closes the distance and clinches.
Hugo has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Velascez is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Hugo tries to score a body lock takedown but Velascez shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Victor Hugo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Velascez gets underhooks to prevent Hugo's takedown attempt.

Hugo has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Velascez is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Velascez lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Velascez enables Hugo to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Velascez manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Velascez wants to stand but Hugo is controlling the position.
Hugo wants to control from the top but Velascez keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Victor Hugo.
Hugo on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Velascez misses with an uppercut. Hugo saw that one coming.
Velascez is looking to clinch.
Hugo closes the distance and clinches up with Velascez, looking for a takedown. Hugo pushes Velascez against the cage but Velascez circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Hugo fails with the takedown.
Velascez lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Velascez jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Velascez displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hugo.

Velascez forces Hugo back against the cage and clinches.
Hugo wants a takedown but no success here.

Velascez has clasped his hands together around Hugo's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Velascez in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Hugo tries to improve position but can't.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Febra Velascez.
I think Hugo has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
