The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akande throws a body kick that misses.
Akande shoots for a double leg takedown but Yu sprawls well. He's pushed Akande's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Yu misses with a straight left.

Horrible takedown by Akande or perhaps it was just good defense by Yu which made him look bad.
Akande tries to land a leg kick but Yu saw it coming and moves away.

Akande is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Yu can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Akande goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Yu is on top in guard.

Akande pulls Yu in close to prevent any damage.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Akande is on top in guard.

Akande goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Yu turns into him and now he's in Akande's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Akande working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Yu doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Yu manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Akande shoots in looking for a takedown but Yu manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Akande's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Jeez, Kasim Akande's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

A chopping leg kick lands by Akande.
Akande looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Yu is fending him off so far but Akande persists. Nope, Yu circles away and we're back to standing.

Yu lands a big uppercut and Akande crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Akande looks OK. Yu waves Akande back to his feet!

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Kasim Akande's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
