PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chester Gates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danger Man Reid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gates kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is American Badass - Kid Rock. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gates is trying hard to land a takedown here. Reid sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Reid tries for a takedown but Gates sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Reid tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Gates manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Chester Gates seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sloppy strikes from Gates. Those never looked like landing.
Gates dives in and grabs Reid's left leg, looking for a takedown. Reid pushes down on Gates's head and hops out.

Gates closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gates seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Reid is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Reid is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Gates would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

A close second round but Danger Man Reid will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Gates shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Reid manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Reid escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gates gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Gates stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Reid throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gates's waist but Gates gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Reid off to one side.

Reid gets caught napping as Gates dives in and scores a takedown. Reid manages to retain guard.
